You cannot scale a childcare business if every single decision has to cross your desk. If a teacher is asking you where the extra paper towels are kept, you have fundamentally failed to build an autonomous team. Building a management team requires you to actually let them manage.
Promote your best lead teacher to curriculum coordinator and give them complete authority over the supply budget. Hire an assistant director and let them handle the entire first round of staff interviews. They will absolutely make mistakes early on. You have to let them make those mistakes. If you constantly swoop in to fix every minor problem or redo their paperwork, they will never develop the confidence to lead when you are out of the building. Your job is to coach them through their errors with patience, not to rescue them at the first sign of imperfection. A team that has earned its confidence through real experience will protect your center far better than one that is simply following your instructions.
